Beatriz Vicente
Beatriz Vicente, originally from Spain is now based in Virginia, USA. Her calligraphy journey began 15 years ago when she discovered a love for the uncial script. At the time, she worked in advertising while raising her three children, and calligraphy quickly became an essential creative outlet. While her early focus was on pointed pen scripts, her interests have expanded over the years to include broad pen styles such as Italic, Fraktur, and Gothic scripts. To this day, she still begins each day with Spencerian drills to maintain her rhythm and continues to pursue learning through workshops and ongoing study.

Inspired by the woods surrounding River Bend Park in Virginia, this piece brings together the animals and natural details the artist encountered during daily runs. A Cherry Blossom takes centre stage, symbolising the tree she passed most often and the heart of her connection to this forest.
