“Calligraphy plays with language in visual ways to express as well as inform, and I find joy in my ability to create a piece that brings joy to recipients or elevates the intended message. We are extremely lucky to live in an age where we can reference historical examples by centuries of scribes as well as the ability to learn from existing calligraphers who have dedicated their lives to perfecting their work. To pay homage to this rich heritage and to inject our contemporary sensibilities to reach a modern audience is what I hope to strive towards.”
