Designed as a two-sided 20-panel collage, this folds into a meandering book and unfolds into random three-dimensional arrangements. Front and back can be seen simultaneously as the story is unveiled. The book combines 'altars' in my house, with a map showing the seven bloods that comprise my DNA. It highlights the continental jump between the main two (cultural) bloods of my ancestry: Cuba and Spain. With a central story of my grandfather leaving Spain at age 14 to Cuba. Words from songs sung by my maternal grandfather in gallego and poems recited by my paternal grandmother and my father, accompany the map and images

About the artist
Annabel Delgado
An architect by training, Annabel started calligraphy ten years ago while trying to find the right ink for wedding invitations for a nephew. Her desire to combine calligraphic pieces with architectural settings requires an increase in scale, which she is currently exploring. She is also intrigued by creating work that is emotional rather than aesthetically pleasing. Layering and overlapping is her main approach to calligraphic experimentation.
