‘Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.' Lao Tzu

For me, the butterfly is the perfect symbol to embody this quote and my connection to nature. The butterfly’s life cycle, with its gradual growth, transformation, and emergence, reminds me that everything bears fruit in its own time. Since childhood, I have learned that a butterfly’s wings won’t develop properly if its cocoon is interfered with while it is emerging. This reminds me that it is important to let things evolve at their own pace.

This artwork is a pop-up design based on the M-fold mechanism. The butterflies are fixed to the structure using acrylic sheets, creating the illusion that they are flying as the piece is opened.

MEDIUM | Watercolour, multi-surface acrylic paint, calligraphy ink on 200g watercolor paper, cardstock & acrylic sheet

PRICE | Not for sale.
